Will Stratton’s Post-Empire is out today and we could not be more pleased. Heartfelt, intense and sparse music built around Will’s strumming and gorgeous string arrangements, the album simply does not have a weak moment. That said, don’t take our word for it. Go fetch it and form your own opinion!
Available from Bandcamp, iTunes and any other respectable online vendor.
Other (trustworthy) people’s words about Will Stratton:
“Will Stratton’s songs are beautiful and bracing, despite — or maybe because of — the abstract, ambitious goals that motivate him…[his] songs gain strength from their ambiguity; stylistically, they’re too imaginative to be easily pigeonholed. Sufjan Stevens and Nick Drake both work as reference points; like them, Stratton makes songs that are elegantly orchestrated. But Stratton is rapidly coming into his own.” – David Garland, for NPR Music
“Will’s one of those artists that I’ve gushed about so hard that I get quoted in his PR agent’s emailz. What can I say? His music absolutely breaks my heart in all the right ways.” – Mark Schoneveld, YVYNYL
Ocean View signs with Big Oil
We are proud to announce that we signed the Copenhagen band Ocean View last night!
They’ve already started recording their debut record this week with Jens Benz (Iceage, Thulebasen, Powersolo), but until then you can keep up with them here and check out a raw recording from their practise room:
It’s teaser’o’clock: ticktock’s album is nearly done!

We’ve crushed on yvynyl for years - this is definitely earning Mark even more brownie points:

Will Stratton - You Divers
Will’s one of those artists that I’ve gushed about so hard that I get quoted in his PR agent’s emailz. What can I say? His music absolutely breaks my heart in all the right ways. This new single starts deceptively slow, then builds like a deep scuba dive, building pressure and darkness, but opening up the unknown depths. Metaphorically similar, I suspect - songwriting and scuba diving.
Get the whole Post-Empire LP on Bndcmp on March 20th, with vinyl to come later this summer.

Help Moono
Moono, the studio of one of the most innovative and exciting labels in Denmark have just been robbed of 500,000 DKK’s worth of equipment, including computers containing irreplaceable recordings.
Their insurance isn’t covering the losses, so the boys at Tambourhinoceros are having to raise the funds necessary to get the studio up and running again themselves.
Please donate what you can via. their site to help them rebuild Moono and help more of the high quality music they’ve been producing see the light of day.
Though we don’t know them personally, we -like many others- have enjoyed their releases and are hoping their studio is up and running again as soon as possible.
